This second leg of the World ARC consists of off shore sailing, exploration of exotic islands ”off the beaten track”, passage through the Panama Canal and the first 45 NM in the Pacific Ocean.
We gather on board on January 20th, get to know each other, and explore Santa Marta. We can also participate in social activities with the crews of the other boats participating in the World ARC.

There will be time to familiarize ourselves with Celeste, conduct a thorough safety briefing, and make preparations for the sailing including provisioning before we leave for the 280 NM to San Blas, a group of islands off the coast of Panama. The passage will take about two days.
The archipelago of San Blas consists of beautiful landscapes and magical sandy beaches.San Blas is called ”Kunas’ land”. The majority of the San Blas islands are uninhabited, but on the few larger islands, the native population, known as the Kunas, live.

The Kunas protect their lands from mass tourism, keeping them healthy, untouched, and beautiful, maintaining their traditional culture while staying “off the beaten track.
After a few days of relaxation and exploring the islands, we sail the 80 NM to Colón at the entrance of the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is a truly unique construction, and it will be exciting to pass through it.

In addition to locks, the canal also features both a natural and an artificial lake. The passage is about 40 NM.
Once we’ve passed through the Panama Canal we will prepare for sailing the first NM of the Pacific Ocean, but before that there will be some time to explore Panama.
To Las Perlas it is 45 NM. Here, the fleet regroups, and there will be time to share experiences between the different crews.

Las Perlas is also an archipelago with many beautiful and exciting islands, the largest being Isla de Ray. Las Perlas is the final destination of this second leg of World ARC.
The Las Perlas Archipelago has some of the most pristine and well-preserved beaches in Panama, along with dense jungles full of flowers and birdsong. The marine life around Pearl Island is abundant.
